ALECOSTA: Alemania-Costa Rica

ALECOSTA is a scholarship programme administered by DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) in partnership with CONARE (Costa Rican universities). It funds university lecturers from five Costa Rican institutions to pursue Master's and doctoral degrees in Germany. The programme offers scholarships lasting 24 to 48 months, with Master's degrees funded for up to two years and PhDs initially for three years (with possible fourth-year extension). Both the Costa Rican partner universities and DAAD provide financial and support benefits. What you get • Monthly scholarship payments from Costa Rican partner university • Travel allowance (if not provided by Costa Rican university) • Initial language course in Germany (up to 6 months, including accommodation and pocket money) or language course during studies • Health, nursing care, accident and liability insurance • One-year research and study grant • Printing costs subsidy for doctoral students • German language course costs for accompanying spouses (if applicable) How to apply 1. • Must be a university lecturer at one of these institutions: Universidad de Costa Rica, Instituto Tecnológico de Costa Rica, Universidad Nacional, Universidad Estatal a Distancia, or Universidad Técnica Nacional • Enrolled in or applying to a Master's or doctoral degree programme in Germany • For continuation: must provide annual proof of academic progress and successful programme completion trajectory
